The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

RAYS 7, Orioles 6(boxscore)

THE GOOD: A walk-off win? Well, that’s a new twist. Kevin Kiermaier has struggled a bit recently and the long season may be starting to take its toll. In the 8 games prior to Sunday, Kiermaier was 3-23 and was given a breather on Friday which was a bit surprising since it was a right-handed starter.  But the break may have helped on Sunday as Kiermaier went 2-5 and drove in the game-winner in the bottom of the 9th when he beat out an infield single.

THE BAD: The next Rays loss or Blue Jays win will officially eliminate the Rays from the division race. The Rays are 6.5 back in the Wild Card and have an elimination number of 7. The Rays also have to go 10-3 to finish above .500.

THE TELLING: Rays catchers have hit 19 home runs this year, one short of the team record in a season for catchers. Only right fielders (23) have hit more this year (3B also has 19)…The Rays Baseball Foundation will donate $100,000 to 20 local not-for-profit organizations…The Rays are now 72-77 and remain a half-game ahead of the Red Sox for last place in the AL East.
