St. Pete mayor Rick KrisemanThe mayor of St. Pete and the Rays have reached a new agreement that would allow the Rays to look for new stadium sites in Hillsborough County. However, the mayor will not present the deal to the city council unless he feels it will be approved according to Charlie Frago of TampaBay.com.

It appears that the biggest difference between the old agreement and the new is the future development of the land on which Tropicana Field sits and whether the Rays would be able to profit off that redevelopment. Stuart Sternberg told TampaBay.com he has no interest in making money off any projects.

On the flip-side, the agreement also says the city can’t move forward with redevelopment while the Rays are still at the Trop if those projects will hurt attendance at games (by impeding traffic or interfere with parking).

Read the Business Journal story and here's what I took away from Sternberg:

I am so overbearing that it is better that I live in NY. I view myself as a reverse Steinbrenner (except that I don't have real wealth, so I sell players instead of buy them). I have no other job than running the Rays, but it is better than I'm 800 miles away.

I think he may have nailed it. It figuring out the stadium thing, he needs to be as far away from it as possible. I give the guy credit for knowing he is a bull in a china shop.

why do not the people associated with Rays Index update the Ray's organizational depth chart? It is embarrassing.

The depth chart will be updated when the Rays update it. Right now, players are either in big league camp or minor league camp. Nobody has been assigned to teams yet.
