Ben ZobristBuster Olney was a guest on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco and was asked initially about the Dodgers chances of trading for David Price.

While he says that the Dodgers “were not close with any kind of a trade for Price as of yesterday at 5:00 in the afternoon,” he does suggest that the two teams are still at least talking.

Meanwhile, the more interesting comment Olney made deals with the other veteran the Rays have been rumored to be willing to part with, Ben Zobrist.

When asked if there were any moves that the Giants will make, Olney said “the Giants have to be hoping that David Price gets traded somewhere because if the Rays trade David Price then they are going to trade Ben Zobrist and he is a great fit for the Giants and a whole bunch of other teams.”

In other words, the Rays may be walking that fine line between keeping the band together and making a run or initiating what could turn out to be the biggest deadline fire sale we have ever seen under Andrew Friedman.
