The GBT - The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

RAYS 2, Red Sox 1 (boxscore)

THE GOOD: Jake Odorizzi now has 11 starts since the start of the 2014 season in which he worked at least 6 innings and allowed 3 hits, 1 run, or less. That is the best in baseball (via Dave Haller). Felix Hernandez and Madison Bumgarner are next with 8…In the 9th inning, the hero was Rene Rivera who delivered the first walk-off win of the year for the Rays.

Oh yeah, and there was Kevin Kiermaier doing Outlaw things.

THE BAD: Still have no idea how the umps missed this.

THE TELLING: James Loney and Drew Smyly were both activated after the game. Mikie Mahtook and Allan Dykstra were sent back to Durham…Since last June 2, the Rays have played like a 68-win team at home (27-37) and a 99-win team on the road (35-22)…The Rays are now 8-8. The Jays, Sox, and Yankees are all at 9-7 as 2 games separates the entire division.

Somebody pinch me please. The Rays are 8-8 with Longo, DJ, Rivera and Caberera batting in the low .200's, Smyly, Cobb, McGee, Moore, Jaso and Loney on the DL, and Cash 0-9 in challenges. My Bro-in-Law says the Rays are lucky. He's a Yanks fan. Really? So far we're the unluckiest lucky team in MLB. One observation: Does Cash realize it's not a crime to position his infielders straight up? Right now he's out-Maddoning Maddon. Go Rays, so far so good.

Cash doing a nice job. His hit and run/double steal call (even if fouled off) got the Sox so rattled that it helped the Rivera at bat. A huge win and huge series win.

Also nice to get two comeback/walk-off wins at home. Need for the fans to feel something.

Maybe Ortiz's repeated bullying of umps is starting to pay off? I know I wouldn't be keen on crossing him, the way he acts...

The ump missed it because he had his Ortiz rose colored glasses on.
