THE GOOD: The Rays have hit 7 home runs over the last 2 games including long balls from Evan LongoriaJames Loney, and Richie Schaffer on Wednesday…The Rays still lead all teams with a Spring Training ERA of 2.32. The Yankees are second at 2.62…Chris Archer said he struggled a bit in the 1st inning, but settled down after, throwing 4 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit and 3 walks.

THE BAD: Nick Franklin committed another error at shortstop, his fourth of the spring. The Rays also have an MLB-high 20 spring Training errors.

THE TELLING: Today’s game will be broadcast on Sun Sports…Alex Colome was released from the hospital yesterday after a bout with pneumonia…Drew Smyly played catch for the second consecutive today, stretching it out to 100 feet yesterday…Brandon Guyer was back in the lineup after suffering an oblique strain…Grant Balfour threw a live batting practice session…Only 4 non-roster invitees have made the Rays’ Opening Day roster since 2008, including Eric Hinske (2008), Juan Cruz (2011), Shelley Duncan (2013), and Jamey Wright (2013)…Nathan Karns will start today, Burch Smith goes tomorrow, and Jake Odorizzi starts on Saturday.

    Glad to see this game will be on TV. We are blessed to have tremendous television and radio broadcasters in the TB market. I grew up listening to games on the radio and it will forever be my favorite way to "see" a game.

    So they finally televise a game...and it's during the first flurry of games of March Madness. Oh, well. I didn't really care about the 1 vs 16 matchups anyway. Play ball! Oh and Franklin isn't playing SS for us. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
