Allan Dykstra, who was the first-round draft pick of the San Diego Padres in the 2008 draft, hit a walk-off home run for the Rays today against the Minnesota Twins.

Dykstra, a 27-year-old first baseman who most recently played in the Mets’ organization, was signed this off-season by the Rays to a minor league contract.

  1. Mr. Smith 1980 says:

Spent some time with him during Fanfest... he was a very grounded and kind young man. Gave my 10 year old some hitting tips, played basketball with my 7 year old, and had a nice conversation with me about the difference between the organizations he's been with. Good guy... (and big too).
Hope he gets a shot with the Rays down the line (maybe when Loney leaves).
