The Yankees have won 4 straight and now lead the AL East by a half-game. The Rays are 2 games back. The Yankees are 6-4 versus the East and the Rays are 2-4…The Rays will face CC Sabathia tonight. They are just 1-4 versus left-handed starters this season. Evan Longoria is 21-53 (.396) with 6 home runs against Sabathia…Joe Maddon is going with an interesting outfield tonight with Logan Forsythe, Brandon Guyer, and Wil Myers, left-to-right. That is a bad group, defensively. Guyer is the best glove of the bunch, but he does not have the range of DeJesus or Jennings. That could lead to more balls falling in the gaps than usual.

    Forsythe batting 3rd again??!!

  2. Mr. Smith 1980 says:

I cringe every time I see SloMo's name in the lineup.
Last night Mrs. Smith saw his robust profile and then his offensive numbers and laughed, saying, "Even you could accidentally hit once out of 15 tries and your beer gut is still a decade away from looking like his..."

I hoping it's more like 20 years away.

  3. Dave L says:

Lets clarify something on April Myers troubles in the first 15 games of 2014.

Where have we seen this before?

Did everyone forget April Myers of 2013 in AAA ?

The Rays Index last year did a good job of chronichling (sp?) the horrible start Myers got off to in 2013 against AAA pitching the in the IL. I cant find monthly splits of MiLB to back it up but I remember it and I know Cork does. He didnt hit a homer for weeks if I recall.

His production in 2013 first month was nil. It made most of us conclude the late call up was a Goldilocks move. Not too early not too late ---just right.

Now there is a book on him, expect some overall regression in total number 2013 to 2014. The opposing teams are game planning for the AL ookie of the year.

But just slow down, no time for roster moves.
