  1. LSX says:

    In case anyone missed it...

"Carlos Pena turned down an $8 million offer from the Indians and took $7.25 million from the Rays."

So much for that theory about Tampa Bay overspending on a guy that "nobody else would pay."

  2. Don says:

Maybe thats the reason Cleveland is in last place every year.....the Rays under bid the last place team good move..notice the good teams didn't offer him anything...wonder why... with all those HRs????

    • Tone says:

You don't strike me as a young guy; so I would think the memory of a pitcher-formerly-known-as Fausto Carmona eliminating the Yankees among a swarm of bugs would still be fresh. I loved seeing that myself. Also, they were in 1st place for a good chunk of 2011; until they choked. Carlos had taxes and familiarity to guide his return to St. Pete, not a Indians team that lacks talent. The Indians have more than owned our favorite team up until last season too.

    • Tom says:

The Indians have not been a last place team since 1991. They were 2nd in 2011.

  3. RedBull says:

    Reasons why Pena chose us:
    1. He loves Tampa Bay, and never really wanted to leave in the first place.
    2. He wanted another real shot at winning a title.
    3. Despite what Drew Carey ever said, Cleveland does not rock!
    4. The Rays clearly don't care how he gets out, and loves his defense and run-producing.
    5. Carlos knew Don would be pissed, and decided to accept less money because then Don could continue to look like an ass with no legs to stand on!

    • Don says:

I will look like an ass when Pena hits over .225, gets a hit to left field, hits a fly ball with 2 men on 3rd/2nd and one out, shows he can put the bat on a ball without swinging for a HR....but I'm still waiting.....and my legs are just fine
