While looking for something else, we came across this photo of Johnny Damon from the ill-conceived “Turn Ahead The Clock” promotion implemented by Major League Baseball in 1999. It was like a dream come true for Damon. Look ma, no sleeves!

And if you are not familiar or don’t remember, here is what the Devil Rays jersey looked like on that night.

You can read more about the Turn Ahead the Clock games HERE.

Funny, conceptually, the Rays Jersey wasn't that far off, it said just Rays across the front, not Tampa Bay, out Devil Rays, amd the logo was pretty much as big as they could get o
it, emphasized the blue on the sleeves... Still hideous though...

    • Cork Gaines says:

that was a pretty standard template they used. I believe 20 teams participated in the promotion (sponsored by Century 21 I believe). And most teams just used a dark jersey with an oversized logo that was off-center, and no sleeves. I dont remember what the Devil Rays cap looked like that night and haven't been able to find a picture.

      Does anybody remember?

That photo is of Damon in the Kingdome when the Mariners originally had a TATC night in Seattle. MLB followed suit either later that season or the following season. I'm pretty sure the Rays wore their standard cap at the time. The gradient italics TB with a Ray under it.

  3. Michael says:

That jersey is an alternate jersey in MLB The Show 11

    Looks kinda nice I think.
