The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

THE GOOD: Casey Kotchman. 4 more hits and he is now hitting .345. And he saved the biggest hits for the end. His 2-out single in the 9th tied the game. He then added an RBI-double in the 11th…Zorilla. Big night for Zobrist who had 4 hits, driving in 1…BJ Mays. If you haven’t seen the catch yet, you should click here. Upton, doing his best Willie Mays impersonation, saved David Price a run in the first inning…Justin Ruggiano. Not to be outdone, Ruggiano made his own run saving catch, robbing a home run over the left field wall. Of course, at Camden, that is like dunking on an 8-foot rim.

THE BAD: Joel Peralta. Another meltdown for Peralta who blew a 4-4 tie in the 8th when he gave up 2 singles and 2 walks, including one with the bases loaded. And it might have been much worse if Reid Brignac doesn’t make a nice stop on a hard hit groundball that might have taken a wicked hop…Evan Longoria. Hey, if you are going to be the leader of this team, and you come up with a runner on third and 1 out in the 9th inning needing 1 run to tie, you have got to do better than a popup to the pitcher’s mound.

THE TELLING: Matt Joyce was back in the lineup a day after being held out with a sore shoulder…Elliot Johnson has been activated from the DL And Felipe Lopezwas once again designated for assignment to make room.

  1. Beth says:

Last night was either glass half full (scrappy players! clutch hitting!) or glass half empty (in Baltimore we find a team whose bullpen is as incapable of a shutdown inning as ours).

Also, I'm really miserable about the Detroit game squeezed in on Monday. Why not just make them face the Red Sox with 50 pound weights attached to every player's right leg? I hope the Rays have the good sense to let their three starting pitchers for the Sox series fly home tonight.

Side note: maybe I missed an explanation but where is Brian Anderson?
