Over on the right side of the page, you will see a link to “Organizational Depth Chart” also known as the “Tampa Bay Rays Cork-Board.” We recently made a few changes which we think will make the page more useful.

Now, if you click on a player’s name you will be taken to that player’s page at Baseball-Reference. In the old version, you went to MiLB.com. Unfortunately, MiLB.com SUCKS. Also, if you hover your mouse over a player’s name, you will now see how that player was acquired. If they were drafted by the Rays, it will tell you the year and round.

If you are not familiar with the Cork-Board, here is an intro…

  • Shaded players are on the 40-man roster.
  • Lineups are designed to represent a typical lineup versus a right-handed pitcher in recent games.
  • The starting pitchers are in order of how they appear in the rotation (usually).
  • Players listed under “Extended Spring Training” will typically be assigned to one of the short-season teams (Hudson Valley, Princeton). Those teams begin play in June.

  1. Alex says:

Uh why is Sam Fuld on the bench? He's started every game since Manny left?

  2. Sledge says:

Where are our top picks from 2010 - Sale and Vettleson? I see Oconnor in EST - pretty sure Vettleson is there too. What's going on with Sale? Or have I been under a rock and missed something?

    • Cork Gaines says:

Hmm, that's weird. There should be a second column of EST guys that is not showing up. I'll get that fixed today at some point. But yes, those guys are in EST.

  3. Rob says:

    Awesome, great work.

  4. Cork Gaines says:

I fixed the missing column of players in Extended Spring Training. I should also note that the players listed in EST is probably not complete. I have only included players that have appeared in minor league games previously or top draft picks from 2010. There are probably a number of other players drafted in 2010 from the lower rounds that are in EST. I will add them as they begin to appear in minor league games.

  5. Alex says:

Sam Fuld hit for the cycle from the bench....

  6. JMS says:

Cork, just looked at the Cork Board for the first time, it is terrific work. Thanks for that, makes it easy to follow the kids in the minors and the current Rays. Great job
