The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

THE GOOD: Adam Russell. Russell pitched another scoreless outing, giving up just one hit. It is just two appearances, but he has looked better since altering his mechanics a week ago…Elliot Johnson. Mr. March capped off his great spring with his first home run and added his 12th steal…Evan Longoria. Dirtbag came locked and loaded for the final spring game blasting his 4th home run.

THE BAD: Opening Day. Twelve teams open up today. But we have to wait until tomorrow night to see David Price unleash the first pitch of the 2011 season.

THE TELLING: Upon further review, yesterday’s game did count in the Grapefruit League standings. So the Rays finished 15-14-2. We have no idea why this is important…Manny Ramirez missed yesterday’s game for “personal reasons”…Tomorrow’s opener is a near-sellout with just obstructed view and single seats available…

  1. To the people gonna protest Rick Scott at the Rays game tomorrow, can't we just have baseball in peace. save the protest for another day. or at the very least another location.

    • Tone says:

It is not about politics; he is a Yankee fan pandering to Rays fans. Politics have nothing to do with it.

  3. Geo Hawthe says:

    Protesters helped fill the stands!

Honestly the teachers protesting him look stupid. What he wants is good, teachers performance should be looked at... so many bad teachers out there on cruise control on tenure. You suck at teaching? Go find a new job.

    GO RAYS!

    • Sarah says:

Geo, there's got to be a better forum for debating educational policy than Rays Index, wouldn't you think?

    • matt says:

There are so many flaws with Scott's education plan. Teachers have the right to complain. What if a kid doesn't want to learn and christmas trees the tests. What if a kid gets a top score on the beginning test? How can they show growth? What about parents who never help their kids learn and take them out of school for stupid reasons, but blame teachers? How should this affect teacher's pay, when they already don't make enough money. I hate to bring politics into great Rays baseball, but Scott has to go! And go Rays!

  4. Kelley says:

I thought the protests were political from what I read. It said nothing about anyone protesting because he is a Yankees fan. That's what I was hoping the protests were for but I didn't read that anywhere.

Also, nothing in the good about BJ??

  5. Sublime says:

Why boo and protest now? You should have boo'd and protested by not voting for the mo'fo.

  6. Joe says:

Spring is finally over. I think it goes on about a week or 2 long but knowing Maddon, he wants another week added.

Anyway, just hope Hellickson gets deep into his minor league start today and let's get this going, facing Guthrie, a unstretched Matusz and Tillman

    WHEN does the season start?
