The Rays Confidence Graph is a look at how much confidence Rays fans have in the Tampa Bay Rays. The graph is designed to give us a look at how our emotional bias as Rays fans fluctuates through time. The “confidence” in the team is an inexact measure of how fans feel about the team’s current strength as well as how much confidence fans have in Joe Maddon and the franchise for the next 3-4 years…

Notes on the graph…

  • Just prior to the playoffs, confidence in the 2010 Rays was 9.0. As we now look towards 2011, confidence has fallen all the way to 6.1. The most common response was “7” at 29.5%.
  • Confidence in the future went from 7.2 to 7.3. The most common response was “8” at 29.9%.
  • Confidence in Joe Maddon went from 7.0 to 7.5. The most common response was “9” at 22.8%.

  1. a.j. says:

A trade candidate I hadn't thought of is Billy Butler! While I wouldn't mind trying to get someone else from their organization (Moustakas), Butler is a proven major league hitter. His defense is suspect, but he's got good experience as a DH too! Kaufman stadium is not power friendly, so his HR numbers would probably go up in the Trop. He's got great upside too, as he's still relatively young and just now entering his arbitration years. Anybody not like the idea of a Butler-Longo combination in the middle of our order?

  2. Indiana Rays Boy says:

7.0 to 7.5 on the confidence level on Joe Maddon? Are you kidding me? 22.8 percent of the people gave Maddon a 9 out of 10. What are they smoking? They obviously haven't been watching Rays baseball real closely. With that debacle in the playoffs especially in Game 5 ALDS, I have lost more confidence in him as a manager. I give him a 6 at the most until he wins a championship as a manager.
