Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe is reporting that talks between the Angels and Carl Crawford have moved beyond informal discussions…

Carl Crawford, LF, free agent — It’s been quiet on this front, but a major league source said the Angels have gotten into serious talks with Crawford, who seems to fit their team philosophy quite nicely. GM Tony Reagins and owner Arte Moreno were mum on the topic at the GM meetings, a sure sign they’re trying to work things out away from the spotlight. The Red Sox are also said to be doing things behind the scenes.

We still think the Tigers are going to jump in and try to trump the Angels, but it is no surprise that the Angels are the leading contender to land Crawford’s services.

And we have said it before…why would the Red Sox even want Crawford? Playing left field in Fenway Park would only limit Crawford’s value and just means the Red Sox would have to overpay for his services.

Oh please don't let Detroit rape us again...first Edwin Jackson, then CC....I can't stand it...

"Why would the Red Sox even want Crawford"....well lets see...An outfielder that hits over .300, steals 60 bases, would hit over 20 hr. in Fenway park, would have OVER 100 rbi's if not hitting 2nd.....I guess the Red Sox just want players that can win....just my guess!

I would much rather have CC go to the Tigers than LA. LA's first round pick is protected so the Rays would have to settle with a compensation pick. If he went to Detroit then the Rays would receive their first round pick, which is the 19th pick I believe.

As far as Boston goes, Carl takes a lot of pride in his defense, and I would guess he would like to go somewhere where he could showcase that. Not Boston where those talents would be covered up. Left field in Fenway is like right field on a Little League team, that's where you try and hide your worst defensive player.

Go Detriot ..he (crawford) would be perfect there and Soriano to the white Sox...3 first round draft a draft that is loaded!
