Michael Sasso has more details on the proposed development of the Fairgrounds…

The developer proposing a massive entertainment complex at the Florida State Fairgrounds envisions a project worth up to $1 billion, with professional baseball and soccer stadiums and up to 2,600 hotel rooms, state and Florida State Fair Authority documents show.

The developer did add that the idea of including a baseball stadium is “not motivating any of this,” suggesting that the development could easily proceed without the stadium.

  • Cuban pitcher Juan Yasser Serrano held a private workout for the Rays last week. Serrano, 22, has a fastball in the low-90s, but has been unspectacular while pitching in the Cuban league. In 2008 he was 2-7 with a 6.46 ERA. Serrano has worked out with at least 10 clubs. [MLB Trade Rumors]

  1. Jason W says:

With how good Greinke is I wouldnt make that deal. With Crawford about to become a FA we need a good replacement for him.I'm fine with moving Brignac though. And if that happened, we would have to trade one of our current starters to make room for Greinke because I'm not much a fan of a 6 man rotation. Its just a fan question anyways so it would never happen

  2. Tone says:

I hate that they traded Aki. Still like him at 2nd and Zobrist in right. Rooting for him.

  3. Don says:

Aki was a bad victim of circumstances....after the injury the Rays seen the light on Zobrist($400,000) or Aki ($4,000,000) it was the beginning of the end!
Zo is better anyway, but RF is still a problem..........just think.... Maddon wouldn't let Zo play RF start of 2009 preferring the Gabe&Gabe show!
...year later they are still trying to find a RF....go figure...

  4. Don says:

Almost forgot...don't care much for the stats boys but Roto times pretty much hits Upton "unlimited potential" right on...
Anyway 2010.....make it or break it for Upton...$3mil too much for a CF that can't hit!

  5. rbt says:

Love Greinke, but can't imagine the Rays taking on his contract - $7.25 million this year, which isn't bad, but $13.5 million in 2011 and 2012.
