The Rays Confidence Graph will appear every Thursday and is a look at how much confidence Rays fans have in the Tampa Bay Rays. The graph is designed to give us a look at how our emotional bias as Rays fans fluctuates through time. The “confidence” in the team is an inexact measure of how fans feel about the team’s current strength as well as how much confidence fans have in the franchise for the next 3-4 years. Notes on this week’s agida-level can be found after the graph..

Notes on the RI Confidence Graph…

  • The most common response for “Confidence in 2010 Rays” was 8 with 40.1%.
  • The most common response for “Confidence in future of franchise” was 8 with 30.1%.
  • The most common response for “Confidence in Joe Maddon” was 8 with 24.1%.

I guess Rays fans took their Prozac.

It's "agita," not "agida," I believe. From same root as "agitate." Sorry to use the comments section to nitpick, but I don't know of another way to correct it.

And I agree that the uptick in confidence since the season ended is amusing. Something about watching bullpen meltdowns throughout September made the future look bleak. Now after a few weeks of watching the Bucs we've all decided the Rays organization looks pretty good after all.

    • it is a slang word, and I have seen it spelled both ways. I believe "agida" is more common based on the sicillian-american pronuniation. And I always thought the word was more closely related to Acid which is "Acida" in Italian. As in "you give me acid in my stomach (or heartburn)"
