Our correspondent Jordi Scrubbings was at the game last night. Here is his report. You can also here Jordi tonight on “The Sully Baseball Show” which can be heard HERE

When I was a younger, I rooted heart and soul for the New York Mets. My dad was a Mets fan and I followed in his footsteps. One of my fondest memories of my dad and I’s shared fandom was when Mookie Wilson’s grounder rolled through Bill Buckner’s legs in Game 6 of the World Series. Being young and skinny, my dad gave me a big hug and swung my around the living room. Although I was a happy new fan, he was overjoyed. The Mets lived to see another day.

Here I am today the roughly same age my dad was in 1986.  The Rays have in many ways replaced the Mets as my true heart’s desire. The Mets are my first fan love and I will never forget them, but since 2007 day-in and day-out I’ve ridden with the Rays.

[HAPPY HOUR] Rays Win, Now Tied With Red Sox

Victory! 2 Comments »

Rays beat the Yankees tonight, and the Red Sox lost to the Orioles, leaving the Rays and Red Sox tied for the Wild Card lead with 2 games to go. There is only one thing left to say…

VICTORY!

What, Me Panic?

Fans do silly things, FML, Nice little offseason, Offense is offensive, RAYSHEADS, Sometimes cold isn't that cold, Things that make me want to club a stuffed baby seal, Things that make us hurt inanimate objects, Victory!, Vote or Die, We are mad as hell 16 Comments »

When we need s sensible take, we always turn to our correspondent. Jordi Scrubbings is back with another take on the Rays…

I’ve been looking up a lot lately. Apparently, the sky is falling. I hear people are getting ready to fling themselves from skyscrapers, kiss their wives or husbands good-bye, and stock up on canned goods and bottled water.

It’s the end of the world as we know it. Yet I feel fine.

The Rays are in an early season slump. Word on the street is that I must react by “panicking” – whatever that means.

I’m not really sure how to panic for a sports team. After 9/11, I stopped talking to foreigners, cut communications with my neighbors, and even closed myself from my family. They could have all been terrorists. I tuned in regularly to the National Security Color Code Chart to see how safe I was. I watched my friends like a hawk to ensure they weren’t plotting against America. I also stopped eating French fries, French toast, Canadian bacon, and Taco Bell. I took every precaution.

VICTORY! Rays Are 2010 American League East Champions

Victory! 3 Comments »

With thanks to the Red Sox for beating the Yankees, the Rays are the 2010 American League Eastern Division Champions. This is the Rays second division title in three years, which is one more than the Red Sox have won in the last 15 years (just sayin’).

Rays Magic Number Now 3

Magic Number, Victory! 6 Comments »

With the Rays win tonight over the Mariners, Tampa Bay’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is now 3. And with the Red Sox win over the Yankees, the Rays are now back in first place by a half-game. They are also tied with the Twins for the best record in the American League. With their tie-breaker over the Twins, the Rays would have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

It is all about winning series and the Rays swept the Red Sox. And in doing so, stood up and reminded the world that there are still three teams in the AL East.

VICTORY! Rays Win Series, Sweep Yankees

What amazes us, is these last two games are games the Yankees never used to lose. The aura is gone and it left with Joe Torre…Don’t look now, but the Rays have won 6 of 8 including 5 of 7 against the Red Sox and Yankees. Just keep winning series. Just keep. Winning. Series.
