Twitter Me This: Other Ways To Discuss Your Tampa Bay Rays

Facebook, Twitter 3 Comments »

We are neck-deep in the 2011 playoffs and the continuation of this miracle run by the Rays. If you want some other ways to discuss the team and the games, you have several options in addition to the comments section of this website…

  • TWITTER — You can follow us at @Raysindex on Twitter. In addition to acting as a real-time version of the mornings “Webtopia,” Twitter is also the place where you can find breaking news. We also provide commentary during most games as well as videos and pictures of the action.
  • FACEBOOK — Be sure to “Like” us on Facebook where you can share Rays news and stories with your friends.
  • GOOGLE+ The Professor is on Google+. We are still getting used to the new platform, but we envision The Prof’s facebook page as a place to keep the world informed of the Rays, as opposed to Facebook, where we just share things among our friends. We may also throw up some other interesting stuff there that is not Rays-related.
  • 620 WDAE MESSAGE BOARDS — The Rays message boards over at 620 WDAE are powered by our alter ego JoeRaysFan.com.

Rays Index Contest: Win Tickets To A Regular Season Rays Game

Facebook, The RAYSHEAD Army 1 Comment »

In what will be the first of several contests this season, we are giving away two tickets, as well as consolation prizes to some Rays fans.

The Rayshead Army Photo Contest

THE CONTEST: We are looking for your best Rays photos. There are four categories including…

  • Tampa Bay Rays (photos of players, coaches or front office personnel). Photos can be action shots, funny, professional looking…whatever. If you think you have a good photo of the Rays we want to see it.
  • The Rayshead Army (photos of Rays fans). Photos can be funny or just a bunch of people wearing Rays gear having a good time or somebody trying to prove they are the biggest Rays fan. If you think you have a good photo of Rays fans we want to see it.
  • Photoshop (photos of Tampa Bay Rays with your best/funniest Photoshop adjustments)
  • lolRAYS (photos of Tampa Bay Rays with your own captions…if you are not familiar look here.)

THE RULES: All contest photos are to be submitted to The Rayshead Army facebook group.

  • Photos for the first two categories (Tampa Bay Rays, The Rayshead Army) must be your own photos. Do not just pluck images off of Google Image Search or Flickr. Photos for the last two categories (Photoshop, lolRAYS) can be photos found on the internet.
  • You must be a member of The Rayshead Army facebook group. If you are not a member, do not fear. It just takes an email address, sign up and then go to the group page HERE and click to join. Don’t worry, we won’t bombard you with emails. In the past year, there might have been 3-4 emails from us and there might be a way to block those.
  • On The Rayshead Army facebook page, just click “Add Photos.”
  • In the caption of the photo, enter which category the photo is to be entered (ie. Photoshop or lolRAYS)
  • The contest will run until the end of April.
  • A panel of judges will determine the winner of each category.
  • Only give us your best photos. Don’t upload 500 photos.

THE PRIZES: Two (2) tickets to a Rays game

  • The winner of each category will win one t-shirt of their choice from the Rays Index T-shirt store.
  • The winner of the grand prize will be selected at random from the winners of each category.
  • The grand prize winner will win two (2) tickets to a 2009 Tampa Bay Rays regular season home game. The winner will be able to choose from a handful of games.

So let’s see ‘em. We know a lot of you have great photos of the Rays and we want to see them.

[LIVE BLOGS] Rays Index PSA: Live Blogs Back By Popular Demand

Facebook, RAYSHEADS, The Professor revealed 2 Comments »

Last week we presented the “Second Annual Rays Index Opening Day Live Blog-A-Balloo“. It was fun, raw, unadulterated, foul-mouthed, emotional, naked, drunken, bliss…No, really…we were naked the whole time…

Originally the plan called for Opening Day to be the only guaranteed Live Blog-A-Ballo, with the option for others later in the year if the Rays were playing any meaningful games. Well, during and after the event, the comments and emails were overwhelmingly positive. And by positive we mean some people threatened physical harm if we don’t keep Live Bloggin’.

So as it goes…contracts are shredded, bribes are accepted and plans are changed. From here on out (or until we change our minds) we now present:

THE RAYS INDEX LIVE BLOG-A-BALOO OF THE WEEK

Each week we will pick one game that we feel will have more interest among RAYSHEADS. We will consider several factors including our own availability, pitching match-ups, weather, requests, and networks with cameramen with an eye for talent.

But there is a catch. The Live Blog-A-Baloo will have two homes.

Some of the Live Blog-A-Baloos will be conducted at the home of our new RAYSHEADS Facebook Group. This will be done for a few reasons:

  1. It will allow for a slightly less formal gathering and more crowd participation, if you are so inclined.
  2. It allows us to bring more elements to the RAYSHEAD Facebook group without comprising the integrity of this site…if there is any.
  3. Live Blog’s might be illegal. Not that it would ever stop us.

So be sure to join the RAYSHEADS FACEBOOK GROUP. And remember, Facebook is open to everybody these days.

But, never fear…We will limit the Facebook Live Blog-A-Baloos to night games, as we are aware that many people can’t access their Facebook accounts while at work. Live Blog-A-Balloos for day contests will be conducted exclusively here at Rays Index.

So be sure to join us each week for THE RAYS INDEX LIVE BLOG-A-BALOO OF THE WEEK, coming soon to a computer near you. We will announce the game of the week every Monday.

And while we are at it, here are some pics of a RAYSHEAD that was brave enough to wear RAYSHEAD gear at Yankee Stadium. That is our good pal David Chalk of Bugs & Cranks (click on thumbnails for larger versions). If you ask us, that dude totally looks like he blogs from his mom’s basement.
