Kate Upton called for the firing of two Tampa Bay Rays media members after they left Justin Verlander off their ballots for the American League Cy Young Award.

Despite Verlander receiving the most first-place votes in the 2016 American League Cy Young voting, he did not win the award. This did not sit well with Kate Upton, his fiancée.

Rick Porcello of the Boston Red Sox won the award with Verlander finishing second. Upton then ripped Major League Baseball with a vulgar tweet (you can see the uncensored version of the tweet here).

It turns out that the two writers who left Verlander off their ballots were both from the Tampa Bay media market (each AL market gets two votes for each major MLB award), Bill Chastain of MLB.com and Fred Goodall of the Associated Press. Both writers had Porcello first on their ballots. Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times did not have a vote this year.

Upton called for the firing of those writers.

Of course, the members of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) are technically independent of MLB, although that distinction is blurred in the case of Chastain.

Here is the final voting.

    Hi Cork,
Nice to see you back again. I actually clicked on this bookmark by mistake because I thought the site was not being updated anymore. So what do you want to talk about? I think it's just me and you. How about Hot Stove? I'd like to see the Rays move Smyly because I love Archer and Odorizzi and moving Cobb would be selling low.

Did you see Stew commissioned a feasibility study in Montreal? Not the sort of thing I want to hear...

I'm here too. Glad to see a post. I too thought Cork was gone forever, swallowed up by the cesspool of NY.

Kate Upton is without class. Porcello had a much better won-lost record, , gave up fewer HRs, and walked fewer. However, Verlander did have a respectable W-L record, struck out more and had a better ERA. I could have voted for either one. but it has been rare for the winner not to have won 20+ games and even rarer not to have better than a 64% W/L ratio for a starting pitcher.

Kate is wrong, but both pitchers were good enough to qualify for #1.

Hey did you see the Rays made another dumb trade? I guess it's not as important as Kate Upton tweeting about a baseball player that has never played on the team.
