On Tuesday, the Rays announced the long-anticipated game they will be playing in Cuba later this month. This morning we noted that there was a logo for the game (above).

That’s cool. There is just one small huge problem. The Cuban flag is upside-down (note the points on the star).

I’m usually not one for hypotheticals, but I’m guessing that if Cuba had produced a logo and the American flag was upside-down, this would be a problem for a lot of people.

President Obama will attend this game reportedly. You heard it here first. Hey I heard it on PTI thats all.

I spent a fortnight in Cuba 15 years ago. almost no time in Havana but travelling the country driving an old Volvo with 100K+ miles.

Its a surreal place. I would love to be there for that game.

  2. Joe Dunn says:

This is what is wrong with today's media - - it is much more important to get things out QUICKLY than it is to be accurate . . . just read on Facebook. Awful.

  3. Political_Man says:

Beep... Beep... Beep... Let's back up the "huge" problem tag. It's a lot easier to put the Cuban flag upside-down by accident than the American flag given the symmetrical aspects of the two flags. Let's not compare apples to hammers here.

I'm sure some will still be offended though. Sign of the times.

    • Geoff Peterson says:

I think it depends on where you're from. We know where our field of stars should be just like they know where the points on the star should be. In any case, it should be corrected as a sign of the proper respect.

  4. Andrew says:

at least they didn't use a puerto rican flag, its been done before...
