Matt MooreMatt Moore and Richie Shaffer were among the first six players to be added to the Rays’ roster as teams can add up to 15 additional players starting today.

Also joining the roster are outfielder Mikie Mahtook and relievers CJ Riefenhauser and Kirby Yates.

In addition, catcher Luke Maile is expected to be promoted, according to Marc Topkin. However that move has not been made yet by the Rays. Maile is not on the 40-man roster and a spot will need to be cleared before he can be promoted.

More players could be added next week after the minor league seasons end.

Moore will return to the starting rotation with speculation that he will make his first return start this weekend.

I have to admit I was a bit surprised at Moore being called up on day 1. I guess it's a "nice" thing, but with the Rays' rotation being pretty decent at the moment, I figured they'd let him make 1 more start at AAA on Thursday (I think) and then call him up after that just to keep it all normal rest, etc.

I assume that's the plan for Snell, pitch Friday and then go up after.

In one game Arencibia knocked in 60% of the runs Molina had in 80 games last year.

I think the most important thing in Tuesday's game was Smyly's pitching. Have we given Forsythe his due? He's been one of the most productive Rays with the bat this year.
