The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

Pirates 7, RAYS 6 (boxscore)

THE GOOD: I pretty much hate 99.9% of themed minor league jerseys. They are utterly predictable and excessively ugly for the sake of being ugly. But the Game of Thrones jerseys (above) the Durham Bulls plan to wear are nicely done…The Rays still lead all teams with a 2.79 spring ERA, 32 points better than the next team, the Yankees.

THE BAD: More injuries. This time it is Nick Franklin who “tweaked” his oblique on a swing in batting practice. When asked if he thought the injury would cause him to miss the start of the season, Franklin responded “yeah, definitely.”…The Rays are still last among all MLB teams with a .222 Spring Training batting average and a .286 OBP. They are also striking out 3.48 times for every walk, the worst ratio in MLB. To put that in perspective, every pitcher basically morphs into an All-Star when they face the Rays this spring.

THE TELLING: Two non-roster invitees, Taylor Motter and Allan Dykstra, were the latest cuts from big league camp…

Yunel Escobar made his spring debut with the Washington Nationals.
