Tim Beckham

The GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

RAYS 10, Blue Jays 3 (boxscore)

THE GOOD: Desmond Jennings made a nice catch and Steven Souza hit his first home run in a Rays uniform.

THE BAD: The presumed 4 players competing for the middle infield spots (Asdrubal Cabrera, Nick Franklin, Tim Beckham, Logan Forsythe) are a combined 8-52 (.154) this Spring with a .170 OBP, 15 strikouts and NO WALKS. Ouch.

THE TELLING: Shortstop Daniel Robertson and outfielder Boog Powell were the first cuts of the Spring, being reassigned to minor league camp…Asdrubal Cabrera and Nick Franklin played second base and Tim Beckham played all 9 innings at shortstop…Chris Archer will start today and Nathan Karns will go against the Orioles tomorrow.

  • Kevin Cash on catching prospect Justin O’Conner’s arm: “Any time he throws, everybody stops what you’re doing. The conversation stops, and you watch him throw.” [TampaBay.com]
  • Matt Moore’s return from Tommy John is still being described as “June-ish.” Keep in mind that this likely means a start to a 3-week rehab assignment. So we are really talking about July for a return and that is at the best-case scenario. [TampaBay.com]

Alex Rodriguez hit a home run. That’s no big deal. But the drunken heckling Red Sox fan getting shut down by the home run is the best.

The irony of some chowda' head wearing an Ortiz jersey and calling ARod a cheater is epic.

    An obnoxious Sox fan... shocking!
