Playing A Little Pepper…
Some weird facts about yesterday’s game: The Rays became the first team since 1906 to win a game with fewer than 2 hits and have no walks or home runs. It was also the first win in the team history in which they had just 1 hit. In addition to winning a game with only 1 hit, earlier this season the Rays lost a game in which they allowed just 1 hit. A team had not done both in the same season since 1915. The only hit was a triple by Brandon Guyer. That hasn’t been done since 2004 and it hasn’t been done in a win since 1952. Also, the last time a team won a game in which the opposing pitcher pitched a complete game, gave up 0 earned runs, and allowed fewer than 2 hits was 1990.
