Nick Franklin, acquired in the David Price trade, hit his first home run with the Durham Bulls and he did not disappoint.
Reader Chris D. called the home run “by far the furthest hit ball to right I’ve seen at the park.”
It was dark, so it is difficult to tell exactly where it landed, but it was definitely to the right of the Sun Trust building and up on the home run patio. The blue star on the building in left field represents where Wil Myers once hit a home run before being promoted to the Rays (click for larger version; photo is from a different game).
Here is the Franlin home run.

As one of the "prize" parts of the Price trade why is he not with the big lead club? Is it a 40 man roster issue? Do the Rays think he needs more seasoning or are they just trying to keep him away from Derek Shelton>
Not a 40-man roster issue. Just think Rays are waiting until Sept 1 when they can promote him without cutting somebody else. He also has a skill set that is similar to Zobrist, Rodriguez, and Forsythe , so not needed now. Ultimately he was added for the 2015 season but will help in the final 25 games this season
Nice - - what was that awful sound that the stadium seemed to be playing while he rounded the bases??
Bulls play a train horn sound (I guess an air horn?) on home runs while the Bull snorts.
