David Price

Playing A Little Pepper

The Rays will not have any players represented on the American League All-Star game roster as David Price has been removed and replaced by former Rays closer Fernando Rodney. Price is scheduled to start today’s game after being moved back a day due to an illness. Still, Price could have been used for up to one inning despite pitching today, but is choosing not to…Jeremy Hellickson has been optioned to double-A so that he can keep pitching every 5 days and rebuild his arm strength and endurance. Rays technically could go until July 29 without needing a 5th starter, but it’s doubtful they will go that long…After yesterday’s win, the Rays are back out of the cellar of the East with a 43-53 record, percentage points ahead of the Red Sox and 9.5 games behind the Orioles (11 in loss column).

    Good.

Do you really think DP wants to go there and spend 3 days answering the same question over and over again by the hordes of national media assembled. All of them consider the 2014 Rays as a freshly deceased corpse and Price is the healthy pink fresh liver needs to be immediately extracted and transplanted into the body of one of the 'important' teams so they can contend for a title.

Half the media there only view MLB in terms of how it affects the Yanks and Sox anyway.

So the only requirement is that someone has to be selected from each team? They dont have to actually go?

Its just a distraction anyway, especially for most starting pitchers. It should be all relief pitchers. And that home run derby thing is nuts as well for hitters.

You are very correct . . . I wouldnt want all the media B.S. either. And it burns my ass that good guy Marc Topkin follows this team day and night all season and when there is news, most the time it is BUSTER OLNEY reports - - - - blah blah blah. They should respect local media more.

I propose that the Rays trade Price to the Yanks in exchange for the Yanks building a stadium for us in the Channel side area of Tampa. I'd even throw in Molina, Jennings, Joyce and Zobrist. Last winter they threw away 450 million on Tanaka (pending TJ candidate), Betram (old and often injured), McCann (see Beltram), Ellsbury, Kelly J and Roberts. Great deal for them, they give us 900 million and get 5 players that will make them contenders for a couple of years. They can turn around and ship their expensive bums like Texeira, McCann, Carlos, Ichiro, etc. to this years' contenders. Win/Win for both cities. :)

Ken Good one. Or as somebody suggested when George was alive and they spent more and more and more every year, why not just write the check to MLB and have them SHIP the WS trophy to the Bronx and they could save all the travel expenses and not play the games??
