Playing A Little Pepper

Yunel Escobar has been activated. Jake McGee goes on the maternity list after the birth of his first child. The Rays already had an extra arm in the bullpen, so that group is now back to normal strength…David DeJesus needs 2-3 more weeks for his bone to heal, is expected back in early August. Wil Myers got his cast off, but will not be back until mid-August. Jerry Sands will have season-ending surgery on his wrist.

The Blunder from Down Under strikes again!

I watched Balfour's interview after the game and I have to say that as frustrating as his pitching has been, he is a stand-up guy. I really appreciate that he took it on the chin, took responsibility for his performance and even said he was embarrassed by it because he knows he can do better. He mentioned he threw a couple of good pitches that were hit (which is true), but that he put himself in that position by not attacking hitters and walking two batters. I wish there was more of that type of candor in professional sports. I take back my previous comment and just hope he can turn it around.
