The Trop RingsThe GBT – The Good, The Bad and The Telling sandwich, where The Bad is nice and lean and the The Telling is ripe.

Orioles 5, RAYS 3 (boxscore)

THE GOOD: Alex Cobb. Cobb threw a bullpen session and now the team is saying he could return this month. He seemed pretty excited after throwing his final pitch (see below). Jeremy Hellickson on the other hand sounds like he still has a long ways to go before returning…Evan Longoria. Longo just owns Chris Tillman, hitting his 5th career home run off the Orioles pitcher and just the 4th home run of Longo’s career on an 0-2 pitch…Brad Boxberger. Can the Rays DFA Josh Lueke now and call up Brad Boxberger again?

THE BAD: Another Blown Lead. The Rays are 5-6 in their last 11 games and have blown 12 leads in those games…The Trop. For a dome, The Trop sure does have a lot of power delays. The latest was when a bank of lights was knocked out causing a 19 minute delay (see above). Duke energy claims a transformer was struck by lightning even though there were no storms in the area…Will Myers. I know Wil Myers looks out of it 99% of the time. But did he start to fall asleep in the outfield last night? It sure looked like he started to nod off at one point.

Here it is in slo-mo.

THE TELLING: The Rays are in last place in the AL East and yet according to PECOTA, they still have the best chance in the division to make the playoffs, with a 48.5% chance.

THE JUNKYARD DOGS WEBTOPIA

  • The 25 highest-paid baseball players of all time. Not a lot of Rays on this list. [BI Sports]
  • DOWN ON THE FARM [boxscoresWilson Betemit hit his 7th home run for the Bulls and Nate Karns held Syracuse to just one run in 6 innings in front of about 100 Syracuse fans.

Alex Cobb was excited.

A foul ball nearly killed a fan who wasn’t paying attention.

David Price and Chris Archer played something called Splash Pong and hilarity ensued.

Could it be that Wil was trying to wrap his head around JoMa's latest pre-game lecture on following the "process" and tranced out?

Wil Myers. He looks really bored! He looked kind of dopey out there in right field on camera. More than usual. He does seem to be a little on the dim side.

Doesn't he realize the number of guys who would love to have his job. He is certainly over confident about his skills. He continues to have a 25% K rate. This is not good.

What the heck are you talking about, do you talk about everyone you don't know that way? You should get off your high horse

Professional athletes must be a confident bunch, loss of confidence would doom any one of them. Myers is a 23 year old youngster still learning his trade, and the grind that goes along with it. We, the fans, have little insight into that part of the game. As for "dopey", very poor choice of words I think.
