Kevin KiermaierOutfielder Kevin Kiermaier has been called up to replace Jeff Beliveau and fill in as an extra bench player for the next couple of games in Cincinnati.

The Rays still have not announced who will start on Sunday, likely waiting to keep the Reds from having time to scout and adjust.

The Rays may also want Cesar Ramos to start, but are waiting to see if he is needed in the next couple of days if one of the starting pitchers is pulled from a game early.

Any Bedard start you better have Ramos AND the corpulent Bell rested to hope to combine for seven innings and we better bring our bats that day.

If you start Erik and he become quickly unglued you can always go to Ramos, but the reverse isn’t what the Rays have been practicing them for so that makes me lean toward them starting the elder pitcher.

Watching aging declining lefty Joe Saunders get battered by all our RHB for less than 4 innings the other night foreshadows what we might get from Bedard.

Bedard may make us all nostalgic and misty eyed for Fausto. I hope I’m wrong.

The next 6 weeks are going to dicey to day the least. Bedard followed by Ramos and Bell is scary. No other options seem readily available. Offensively let’s hope Hannigan starts all three games. Otherwise we have a 7 man line-up.
Our hitting has been hit and miss so far. A hot Joyce would help a lot. With the O’s and Yanks up next it’s time to out slug our opponents.
