BlsAd1zCIAAN75KPlaying A Little Pepper

Let’s just pretend last night’s game never happened. Among the things Joe Maddon is good at is being able to treat a game like last night, or being no-hit, just like a 6-2 loss that the Rays were never really in. I can’t recall if it was mentioned here yet, but it is just like that mini-toilet above the batting helmets (see right). That is where bad at bats go. Just flush last night’s game…Tonight’s game will be cold. Forecast is calling for upper 30s or low 40s during the game. Joe Maddon was told by Major League Baseball to not wear the ski cap out to the mound, so he has the Elmer Fudd cap tonight (via Marc Topkin) proving once again that Major League Baseball hates fun.

Meanwhile at Durham Montgomery/Boxberger no hit the Scranton Yanks with MM going 8.1 and Figuroa going 3/4.

In due time Rob. Nice win coming after a bury your head under the covers loss. Ramos looks more and more like a 5 inning pitcher. Gomes pitched well and clutch. When's the last time a Rays catcher had this many RBI's early? Hannigan and Loney add so much on both sides of the game.

So no longer "DL (Dead Limb) Ramos"?

At this point 5 clean innings is a godsend regardless of #6

I have to agree - that's two decent starts in a row, and he only threw 65 pitches to get through 5. Maybe 80 pitches and 6 for the next game??

Never said DL him, just like him better in long relief. Note how his release point changes during inning 5 in both games. He starts leaving the ball up and his breaking balls lose their snap...and you're right both his performance and Gomes were a god send.

....and toss in a play that very few but Longo make on Abreu to end the 5th. Nice to catch a break once in a while.
