Erik BedardPlaying A Little Pepper

After optioning Jeff Beliveau back to the minors on Sunday, the Rays called up reliever Brad Boxberger for tonight’s game. Boxberger came to the Rays along with Logan Forsythe in the Alex Torres trade. Speaking of which, Torres has 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in 5 innings for the Padres. He has allowed just 1 run…On Thursday, Erik Bedard will start against the Yankees, becoming the Rays’ 7th starting pitcher this season. Since 2008, the Rays have used the following number of starting pitchers each season (starting with ’08) 9, 7, 7, 8, 8, 10…Ben Zobrist is 10-23 (.435) with 1 home run in his career against tonight’s starter Wei-Yin Chen. On the flip-side, Desmond Jennings is just 2-18 against Chen, so it is a little surprising to see him batting second tonight.

    Forsythe is batting 3rd??

  2. Dave L says:

Well you can't say Logan isnt getting his opportunity to shine.......

The Orioles pitching has been pathetic, starters and relievers. if we can't hit these guys, well... Now winning Archers and Prices starts take on another sense ugency as must wins.

Every starter and reliever in Durham on the 40 man will get plenty of work with the Rays over the coming weeks. Spot starts galore.

Agreed Dave. The Rays should just rent a downtown condo as a Durham crash pad. I wonder when position players will start suffering from a sprained left shoe. There's a few Durham bats that might be helpful to the cause in the ensuing months.

  3. Alex says:

Sweet early season funk just like a few years ago. This could only get worse with Ramos and Berdard in the rotation

  4. ken says:

    Pray for rain tomorrow.
