The Rays have claimed left-handed reliever USATSI_7456641_154511044_lowresPedro Figueroa off the waivers from the A’s according to Ken Rosenthal.

Figueroa, who has a bit of a side-arm motion, made 24 appearance for the A’s over the last two seasons with a 4.38 ERA (6.01 FIP) in 24.2 innings, with 17 strikeouts and 18 walks. Figueroa also made 46 apearances in triple-A this past season with a 4.10 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 59.1 innings with 33 walks.

Entering the 2010 season, Figueroa was the fifth best prospect in the A’s organization according to BaseballAmerica.com.

The Rays’ 40-man roster is now full. The Rays will have to drop somebody to make room for James Loney as his contract has not officially been signed yet.
