Here is an update on the Rays’ playoff probabilities (via CoolStandings.com). The big number is the red line, which shows that the Rays have an 83.2% chance of making the playoffs. But almost as important is the light blue line which shows the chances of winning the division are now at 43.9%…

    The way Hellickson is pitching this year, I wouldn't put him in the 4-man rotation if we make the playoffs. I would rather see Price, Moore, Cobb and Archer.

    According to mlb.com the rays have a 50.3% chance of winning the division and a 42.6% chance for WC... that equals 92.9% chance of making the playoffs. Can you explain how your numbers vary from MLB?

      I don't know how ESPN calculates their values. CoolStandings uses how well a team is playing, factors in the remaining schedule of all teams and then simulates the rest of the season 1 million times.
