Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello has been suspended six games for intentionally hitting Ben Zobrist…The Rays made it official today, activating David Price and demoting Ryan Roberts to triple-A Durham…The Rays also announced today that they have signed their second first-round pick, Ryne Stanek a right-handed pitcher from the University of Arkansas.

    The suspension reinforces that discretion was once again the better part of valor. Leland cost his guy a suspension by removing any doubt that it was premeditated.

    Happy to see Dirtbag back in the lineup, and can’t wait to see if DP looks good after he gets a chance to shake off the rust.

    Wow – I’m surprised, but pleased about the suspension. However, I would be shocked if Porcello did work with the Tigers to make so that delayed start has the minimal impact. For example, he appeals and then drops the appeal and starts the suspension during a period when the Tigers can call up a AAA pitcher to face the Astros or Twins.
