Playing A Little Pepper

Here is an update of the quest to get to 22 games over .500, which would mean 92 wins and an almost certain playoff spot. How hot are the Rays right now? The Rays were just one game over .500 24 games ago and were about nine games off the pace needed for 92 wins (the red line). Now the Rays are 17 games over .500 and about four wins ahead of the pace needed. The Rays only have to go 34-29 the rest of the way to reach 92 wins. They only need to go 32-31 to reach 90 wins. In other words, it would take a collapse to keep the Rays out of the playoffs at this point…

Now thats the almost ‘A; team lineup now. minus wonderboy.

Maddon dodged some bullets in that sweep.

Trying anybody but Peralta in the 8th in an attempt to keep him fresh for the Sox was a failed move and we still got the wins but Peralta got more even tough work in the process. He has b*lls of steel. Archer was spectacular in getting out of jams and we finally solved Dickey by sending out not our best lineup up but relying on our most cagy hitters and being patient as hell

Rodney was not lock down but he was barely good enough and win is great but he threw like 40 pitches to do it.

Sure the defense was spotty by Rays standards in game 3 but we didnt have the regulars out there and the hapless jays were way worse. Their defense and baserunning was pathetic the whole series

The first two games were a clinic in Rays baseball offensively. Home runs were about even but stratedy, execution, defense, baserunning,,— defense from the irregular Rays even.

Bunting with two strikes and come out smelling like a rose.

I heard all those silly chants MYers–MYers–MYers and the rookie proceeds to carve your pitching staff up like a juicy Turkey. I thought Toronto fans were supposed to be polite? I guess they are pretty jaded by now

Can you imagine being a Jays fan, Your manager leaves to take over the putrid 2012 rival Sox now you trail them by a mile.

You overspend for a bunch of malcontents then the Rays come in with a team sporting 2 of your castaways(1 ‘hurt’ I know) who you couldn’t wait to replace and your wily old Molina and sweep you.

    Useless stat of the day

Maddon is #7 All time in Managerial wins by guys who never played MLB. Trails only Showalter and Leyland, in active ones I never realized Showalter never made it. Of course Leyland was too busy chain-smoking.
