Joe is back with his postgame thoughts…

When Joe learned Saturday that Zorilla made the All-Star Game, Joe shook his head and looked at his beer. Yup, Joe’s first beer wasn’t halfway gone. Joe was sober and heard correctly.

You know what? It’s cool that a guy who does so many little things right is awarded with such an honor for a change. And it was one of those little things that finally ended a tedious game for a 4-3 Rays win, their seventh in a row. Zorilla came through with a single to score Yunel Escobar in the 13th inning.

How tedious of a game was this? Try nearly a five-hour game where both teams fanned a total of 35 times and it wasn’t as if Juan Marichal and Warren Spahn both pitched complete games into extra innings. It was an ugly game with a pretty ending.

Pretty good for a guy like Zorilla, not known for being an elite player.

Congratulations to Mr. Zobrist. He's a tough player who works hard at being a producer. Let's root for an AL win with Zobrist driving in the go-ahead and winning run in the top of the 9th. He would then be an All-Star star.
