Playing A Little Pepper

The Rays have the best record in the AL since May 8 (17-7) and have won seven of their last eight…Tonight’s game will be the first time the Rays have played a night game in Detroit since June, 2011. Last year’s only trip to Detroit was an odd series in early in April in which all three games were day games…Evan Longoria is currently 4th in All-Star voting for A.L. third basemen. He has 454,047 votes, more than 1 million votes behind tonight’s other third baseman, Miguel Cabrera, and just 75,000 votes ahead of Derek Jeter, who has not played a game this year and won’t be back before the All-Star game.

  1. Don says:

Longoria is the 4th best 3rd baseman in the AL...Want me to name them...Fans are smarter than you think....Tonight is the start against the "big Boys" in the AL we got the right man on the mound...get started tonight...
Who's got the best record since January 14th (stupid stuff reporting)

    • KT says:

Fans are smarter than you think? I think the fact that Derek Jeter has so many votes disproves that to some degree, at least when it comes to All-Star voting. Think about it. You won't.

      • Don says:

If Babe Ruth was on the ballot he would have more votes than(jeter) or any of them..... So they're stupid....and I'm thinking..who's the Best...Ruth, Jeter or Longoria....wait I'm Thinking...BUT
        Cabrera,Beltra, Machado (20yr) Longoria...write it down...

  2. Mr. Smith 1980 says:

MLB has to change the way in which all-stars are chosen. If they are going to make the game meaningful by giving home-field advantage in the Series to the winner then they have to have a more legitimized way of selecting the league's best players.

It's bad enough that best players won't be playing and...
a smart-minded society will start to vote for crappy players from the opposite conference in order to help stack the deck in the game.
