This was the first trip of the season to Yankee Stadium so we also got our first chance to see the YES Network’s “YES VIEW” put to use on the Rays.

It is basically a Matrix-style compilation of many different cameras to give us a not-quite-360-degree view of Yunel Escobar’s home run swing. Very cool stuff…

  1. Michael says:

The technique was actually invented by the special effects lead for The Matrix, named John Gaeta

    • Mr. Smith 1980 says:

I was under the impression that it was first developed for the movie "Swordfish" wherein they shot a 360 degree shooting scene.

  2. KT says:

I remember this technique being used in a GAP commercial way back when, before The Matrix even, if I remember correctly

  3. Mike M says:

Imagine what we could do with the rings at the trop!
