Playing A Little Pepper

The Rays placed Brandon Gomes on the DL today with a strained lat muscle. To take his spot on the roster, the Rays promoted Josh Lueke. And if you were paying attention this morning in The Hangover, you already know that Lueke was tearing up the International League with a 0.95 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 19 innings with just 5 walks. We’ll see if that translates to the big leagues…Matt Joyce is leading off tonight. Desmond Jennings has a sore groin and may also miss Saturday’s game…Over the last 21 games, the Rays are leading all MLB in scoring (5.6 runs/gm)…Interestingly, this is the 5th time the Rays will play the Padres, and the 4th time the series will be at The Trop.

And for the record, I predicted/requested a Lueke call-up 2 days ago. I love it when the Rays brain-trust hops on to RI and does what I tell them. Now if I can just get my wife to listen the same way my life would be grand.

    • Bill says:

Keep dreaming. You know as well as we all do that they come on here to look up advice from Don.

      • Ken says:

Very true Bill and Don incorrectly predicted that Hoyt Wilheim would be the call up.

      • Mr. Smith 1980 says:

Good point. Although, if they listened to Don all the time the entire 25 man roster would be made up of Ben Zobrist, Ben Zobrist, Ben Zobrist.... well, you get the point.
