We have long wondered when the Rays would add a Sunburst cap to their regular season rotation. And we speculated back in the spring that it would happen this season when Major League Baseball introduced the new Spring Training/Batting Practice caps.

Tonight is that night…

[UPDATE] Rays, as well as many other MLB teams, will be wearing their BP caps for the next three games. Basically, it’s an MLB mandated requested promotional item to get fans to buy the caps (thanks, Bobby).

    Yuck.

LONG LIVE THE DEVIL RAY LOGO!

Is it just me or does the suburst look like a generic team logo for a baseball video game that didn’t have licensing rights to MLB properties?

The mlb.tv ads last night heavily favored these alternate caps – like the maple leaf one for the Blue Jays.

I’m a huge Rays fan, but this hat must go. Hideous cap! Should not be worn in game, batting practice or anywhere else. We changed uniforms for a reason. Don’t go backwards.
