Earlier today, Hak-Ju Lee, one of the Rays’ top prospects and shortstop of the future, injured his knee trying to turn a double play. Lee was involved in a collision, and according to Joe Smith of TampaBay.com, he tore ligaments in his knee and is likely out for the season.
Lee was having a great season at the plate early on. In his first 15 games, he was on base 30 times with 19 hits and 11 walks. He was hitting .422 with a .536 OBP.
While Lee was not likely to see any significant time in the big leagues this season, this injury puts his status for 2014 in jeopardy. So Lee’s much-anticipated debut with the big club might not come for quite a while.
