Playing A Little Pepper

Darrelle Revis will throw out tonight’s first pitch. The Rays were originally scheduled to have a triple-amputee veteran throw out the first pitch. It is unclear if Sgt. Michael Nicholson will throw out the first pitch on a different night or if both will throw first pitches tonight…Tomorrow night’s game will be ESPN’s national game of the night…The Rays have scored eight runs in two of the last three games. However, in tonight’s lineup, two of the first five batters are Ryan Roberts and Sean Rodriguez. Granted the Rays are facing a lefty. But his name is CC Sabathia and it is still Roberts and Rodriguez…On a brighter note, the Rays have won 11 of their last 13 against the Yankees at The Trop…On a brighter note, part two, Evan Longoria is 14-39 in his career against CC Sabathia with five home runs…On a brighter note, part three, CC Sabathia has just three wins in his 18 starts against the Rays since joining the Yankees…A win tonight would make Matt Moore the first pitcher in franchise history to win his first four starts..

You have to admit that Roberts hit the ball really well yesterday- he's got a lot of "snap" power in his swing for a little fella...

and let us not forget (although I'm not necessarily a fan of his) he does have a career BA of .245 and an OBP of .323 which isn't half bad considering his station in the Rays world.

Roberts was on base twice in each game against Oakland (4 hits and 2 walks) while we scored all those runs. Can we give him just a little credit? He's doing a nice job in the 2-spot for a few games til Maddon gets itchy for something new or Roberts cools a little.

In 28 at bats a nice sample. SRod has a .906 OPS versus CC. Thats why he's playing.

Ryan Roberts is 0-3 against him so who knows?

Longo has murdered him and Zobrist is below his averages against CC

Lobaton is 2 for 2 and Molina is hitless thats why young Jose is playing.

Escobar has an .833 OPS on a decent sample size and Fuld is 1-3 which got him a shot.

Joyce 1-6 with 5 K's as expected he's sitting against another lefty
