Playing A Little Pepper

What has been the most surprising development in the first week of the season?

I know it has only been one week, but I am a little surprised we haven’t see Evan Longoria get a day off from the field yet. If I would have guessed before the season, I would have said Longo would DH once a week and get a day off once every two weeks (either just before or just after a scheduled day off). That would have given him 150 games played with about 125 at third base. Those seem like reasonable numbers, no? But here we are entering week two and up until the 8th inning of Sunday’s blowout, he had played every inning of the season at third base. I’m not sure if I should be happy or scared…LONGORIA’S PLAYING TIME

James Loney's at bats -- going the other way, clutch. If he can just be average at the plate all season, that would go a long way.

Maddon already getting Zobrist back in the infield. The team is best when Z is at 2b or SS. Maybe that is foreshadowing a Myers call up, or maybe it shows that Maddon learned his lesson from last year.

The catchers getting on base. Low expectations easily surpassed, but must give note that they haven't been completely terrible at the plate.
