The Rays finally made the Luke Scott signing official, announcing that he will make $2.75 million in 2013. To make room on the roster, Dane De La Rosa was designated for assignment.

Scott also says his shoulder is fine and “expects” to be able to play first base and the outfield once season starts (via Marc Topkin). Of course, while that may happen occasionally, Scott probably shouldn’t get his hopes up.

  1. Dave L says:

So we brought him back for an outlay of $3.75M whereas his post 2012 commitment was $6M.

As I often predicted we will bring back a cheaper Luke and i did so cheerfully, I will officially endorse it as well and accept the slings and arrows cast my way for his 2013 performance if he fails to produce.

I am PRO Wolverine 2.2013. This one is on me. Although AF only consulted me in my imagination, well... I feel responsible

I stand behind this deal. I think and hope he will finally stay healthy and abuse RHP for 120+ games this coming year.
