  • Marc Topkin reports that the Rays have had “some good discussions” about re-signing Kyle Farnsworth. []
  • There has been some discussion of a trade with the Nationals for Danny Espinosa and Michael Morse with the Rays giving up starting pitching. However, Buster Olney says there is “not traction…as of this moment.” [Twitter]
  • Ken Rosenthal says the Rangers are still looking to trade for a starting pitcher and James Shields remains an option with the Rangers able to “construct a variety of offers” that may or may not include shortstop Jurickson Profar. [Fox Sports]
  • Buster Olney still feels that Jeremy Hellickson is the most likely pitcher to be traded. [ESPN]
  • With the Rays set to sign James Loney, Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star says the Royals will have to trade Will Myers if they want one of the Rays pitchers as their other chips are no longer a good fit. [Twitter]

    I don't think Loney would be the guy to block a chance at getting Hosmer. I just think if we trade with the Royals, we wanted Myers anyway.

    Butler might be a better fit now as he can play 1st or DH with Loney a better defensive option.
