Playing A Little Pepper

According to Marc Topkin, Joe Maddon is trying to keep things relaxed by telling the players that they are not required to report until 6:00 for the 7:10. Good move?

Why not just make the game optional? It’s been almost two weeks since they showed up at all, so maybe 6:00 is a good thing. In the end, it will be a good move if the Rays win. It’s a terrible move if they lose. But what it tells me is that Maddon is starting to get desperate. This is the equivalent of going for it on 4th-and-12 in the 4th quarter when you are down 14. Gotta do something…SURE, IF THEY WIN

Song to get you pumped up

  1. Dave L says:

I think the blind pig will find the acorn tonite.

I have nothing to base that on other that in baseball you can't lose em all.

Shoulda let Archer hit for himself though, certainly couldn't hurt....

  2. Gus says:

Septembers matter for the following year. This is not a good sign. I know everyone in the Rays universe is very disappointed that the Rays disproved a baseball truism --'You can never have enough good pitching" in 2012.

But if they finish on an 18 of 20 slide, you may see the 2012 Sox or the 2011 Rockies in 2013 -- those September collapses can carry forward.

What does it take for Leslie Anderson to get a September look.

End of an era for BJ, Pena, S-rod (maybe) and a few others.

    • Rob says:

I'm beginning to believe there is more to the story about Anderson than we know - maybe political. How in the world he doesn't get a shot with this putrid offense in September is beyond comprehension.

  3. Mark says:

Maddon showed desparation when he left Pena hitting second in the lineup for a month.
