Playing A Little Pepper

The Rays are 74-61 with 27 games remaining. How many wins do they need to make the playoffs?

Looking at just the Wild Card standings, there are 5 teams with 58-63 losses, with the Rays sitting right in the middle. If the O’s and the A’s go 14-14 in their final 28 games, they will finish with 89 and 90 wins respectively. But it seems too much to ask both of those teams plus the Angels and Tigers to play .500 or worse down the stretch. More likely, at least 2 of those teams will have a winning record, meaning at least 2 of those 4 teams will win 90 games. I’d feel really good with 92 wins (18-9 down the stretch), but at this point, my gut says 91 will get a Wild Card spot. That means the Rays need to go 17-10 down the stretch…91 WINS

The Yanks are decimated pretty badly at this point. Slow motion Robby Cano apparently injured his hip last night at some point so he's out now too.

I take it Carlos is back for his glove as he is 5 for 42 plus 3 walks against Garcia.

Glad to see Joyce back in right. Those 3 out there tonite dont let balls go to the fence unless there is no choice. First do no harm as they say. I was hoping Longo could play third and a hot Sammy or Joyce could DH.
