Playing A Little Pepper

Last night, Ben Zobrist’s errant throw prolonged the 10th inning eventually allowing the Royals to score the eventual winning run. Is Zorilla still the right choice at shortstop?

Well, we knew Zobrist was going to be a bit of a liability defensively at SS. He has always been much better at 2B and RF. But we still have to hope that he helps the Rays win more games with his bat than he loses with his glove. That being said, now that Evan Longoria and Luke Scott are back, there is less of a need for the added offense. So when rosters expand in 10 days, don’t be surprised if we start seeing Zobrist back at one of his more familiar spots…THE MOVE MAY NOT BE PERMANENT

Depends on whether you think a 1st baseman ought to be able to catch an offline throw from across the field on the first bounce or not..
