According to Marc Topkin, the Rays have acquired Ben Francisco, form the Houston Astros for a player to be named later. The Rays will have to place somebody on waivers to make room on the 40-man roster.

Francisco, an outfielder, hit .244 with 2 home runs and a .292 OBP (.285 wOBA) in 58 games with the Blue Jays and Astros. And he is best known for comepletly owning Andy Sonnanstine when he pitched for the Rays. At one point, Francsico was 8-9 for 5 home runs off of Sonny.

I dont see this guy getting any playing time at outfield unless one of our current OF suddenly dies.

Maybe he gets a spot start somewhere at DH against somebody else he abuses as bad as Sonny.

Late game pinch hitter for Sept I guess? This one is a head scratcher he had those 2 HR and 7 RBI in 144 PA so his production was nil.

I didn’t know we had an Albert Suarez to designate for assignment on the 40 man.
