Joe has to imagine there’s some Rays fan out there that took a week off and headed to some baseball-free zone, only to come back today and find what the Rays have become: the hottest team in the American league.
What a mind-blowing experience that fan must be going through. He or she might need serious medication.
Tonight the Rays pounded out three runs on the first seven pitches in Minnesota, with Bossman and Matt Joyce hiting back-to-back ferocious bombs and giving David Price all the cushion he needed for the 4-2 win.
Elliot Johnson was a defensive replacement. Joe could hardly imagine typing that last month with a straight face. And Karlos Pena extended his no-whiff streak to five consecutive games.
The more important winning streak also sits at five.
It’s damn hard not to get overexcited at this point.
