Joe is back with his post-game thoughts….

Joe has to imagine there’s some Rays fan out there that took a week off and headed to some baseball-free zone, only to come back today and find what the Rays have become: the hottest team in the American league.

What a mind-blowing experience that fan must be going through. He or she might need serious medication.

Tonight the Rays pounded out three runs on the first seven pitches in Minnesota, with Bossman and Matt Joyce hiting back-to-back ferocious bombs and giving David Price all the cushion he needed for the 4-2 win.

Elliot Johnson was a defensive replacement. Joe could hardly imagine typing that last month with a straight face. And Karlos Pena extended his no-whiff streak to five consecutive games.

The more important winning streak also sits at five.

It’s damn hard not to get overexcited at this point.

Can one be fearfully excited? Or is it cautiously excited? I’m it. What would be a real threal would be to have the Rays overtake NY. Actually, it doesn’t matter a whole lot. All that really matters is the Rays get into post-season.

Thank goodness no one took me up on my $1,000,010 bet. Molina has got his average up to .198 and Pena is at .194. With the current mix of hitters these Rays just might not get tagged as “hitless wonders.”

Pitching looks great. Hitting seems to be coming around, meaning more than a five hit game, and fielding looks spectacular. Yeah—-I’m very excited at this point.

Yeah, we’re sorta awesome right now. Tomorrow is a big test for us. Shields has looked like 2011 Shields as of late but we face not just a lefty but a lefty we’ve never seen and has been pitching like an ace.

Who would of thought a week ago that we’re going for a 2nd straight sweep tomorrow?

Well, now, as of quarter after midnight, we have the #1 wild card spot. It’s been a while. Next run down, the Yankees…

  4. Joe says:

Yeah, I noticed we didn’t just reach a playoff spot tonight but actually would host the playoff game but I am not concerned about that.

    Yankees, we’re coming for you!

So, is Evan’s bat/presence the reason for the 5 game winning streak? Or, is it Karlos keeping the K’s out of the boxscore for these same 5 games (did he actually have any AB’s in 1 or 2 of these?)? Either way, didn’t realize his whiffs had moved elsewhere. COOL! Tat Man seems to be faring better at the plate during this same stretch. At the least, he seems in the middle of many of our rallies, either via walks or hits. Good job, Guys!!!

They have been playing solid ball for a while winning 6 of 9 on the last road trip.

    Missed story…Is Longo coming back a help…sure…
But where is the REAL help coming from…top of the order, Jennings, Upton Joyce Have stopped Maddons stubborn foolishness, Jennings looks more like a leadoff hitter…Maddons hurt this team for a long time hitting Pena 2nd…..say if they would have won 3 more games without the strike out king hitting 2nd…where would the rays be now…. 2 games? back of the Yankees
